Natasha gives lectures, demonstrations and workshops on Zouaq painting and geometry.
She runs short courses at the Prince’s School of Traditional Arts and from her studio at Cockpit Arts in central London. As well as teaching workshops, Natasha also provides one on one tuition at her studio in painting, geometry and Moroccan arabesque design which can be tailored to each student.
Aims of the Zouaq Painting Workshop
During the course students will learn the traditional techniques of Moroccan Zouaq painting on wood to create their own piece. They will be given an introduction to the history of Zouaq painting and its different styles. Students will be able to choose from either a floral or geometric traditional Moroccan design, making their own stencil to then transfer the design to a piece of wood. They will learn the techniques of egg tempera painting using hand ground natural pigments made from earths, plants and minerals which they will prepare themselves. At the end of the course students will have a Zouaq painting to take home with them.
All materials are included but students will be expected to bring their own brushes.
